1. Introduction to the TRS Audio Connector
Definition of TRS Connector:
The TRS connector is a common type of audio connector. TRS stands for Tip (signal), Ring (signal), and Sleeve (ground), which represent the three contact points of the connector. The TRS plug is cylindrical, with the contact points separated by insulating material.
TRS Connector Sizes:
To accommodate different equipment, TRS connectors come in three sizes: 1/4 inch (6.3 mm), 1/8 inch (3.5 mm), and 3/32 inch (2.5 mm), as shown in the following image.
2. AnkerMake M650 Input Interface
M650's TX uses a 1/8 inch (3.5 mm) TRS connector, as shown below:
3. Supported Lavalier Mic Interfaces for M650's TX
M650's 3.5 mm TRS interface supports the following TRS interfaces for lavalier mics:
4.Unsupported Lavalier Mic Interfaces
4.1 Lavalier mics with the following type(s) of TRS connector are unsupported:
4.2 M650 Does Not Support Lavalier Mics with a TRRS Connector
Since the input port for M650's TX is a 3-section TRS interface, when a 4-section TRRS connector is inserted, the innermost sleeve (Mic signal) is not able to make contact with the hardware.
4.3 M650 Does Not Support Lavalier Mics with a TS Connector
Lavalier mics with a TS connector as shown below cannot be inserted and used with M650.
5. Operating Voltage Specs for Supported Lavalier Mics
M650 only supports lavalier mics with an operating voltage of up to 3V, and does not support microphones that require 24V or 48V.
